Architectural Testing worked with the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association to develop the SSMA Code Compliance Certification Programs for structural and nonstructural steel framing as comprehensive, rigorous resources which provide independent verification of the quality of cold-formed steel framing. Architectural Testing is accredited as an independent inspection agency to the requirements of ISO 17020, and is also accredited as an independent testing laboratory in accordance with ISO 17025. Verification of the manufacturer’s certification is supported with unannounced manufacturing facility audits, and independent random sampling and testing of certified products for compliance to the programs requirements.

Manufacturers, specifiers, and users of cold-formed steel framing benefit from this certification:

• Manufacturers can assure specifiers and users that their products meet or exceed code requirements as referenced by the Certification Program.
• End-users can be confident that products bearing the SSMA certification label are verified to meet the program requirements on an on-going basis through independent inspection and testing.
• Proprietary nonstructural products may also be qualified under the Nonstructural Code Compliance Certification and Quality Assurance Program.

Certification Label

Cold-formed steel framing products certified under the SSMA Code Compliance Certification Program are marked with the programs Certification Label. Only products that have been verified to meet the Programs requirements are authorized to bear this label.
