Professional Services

In our journey to becoming the leader in the industry of performance testing, Architectural Testing has developed additional Professional Services to support our clients through any stage of product development and testing. These services include Code Compliance Research Reports, Engineering Services, and Forensic Services. With these additional services, Architectural Testing has the ability to not only test products but to evaluate innovative designs for compliance with buildings codes; provide expert review, supervision, and validation of test reports; and perform forensic investigations and expert testimony.

Code Compliance Research Reports

Accredited by the American National Standards Institute, Architectural Testing’s Code Compliance Research Reports meets clients’ needs for qualified independent evaluations of products as an alternative to ICC-ES Evaluation Reports. The licensed professional engineers who write the reports evaluate the ability of innovative products to satisfy building codes or validate research by providing quality assurance.

Our clients then use these reports to demonstrate code compliance to regional and local code enforcement agencies and other regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the International Building Code, International Residential Code, Uniform Building Code, Florida Building Code, and Standard Building Code. Our Code Compliance Research Reports have covered decking, steel studs, railing, patio covers, and skylights, among other products.

Engineering Services

The Engineering Services Department includes fenestration-related services, such as interpreting test protocols and results; certifying test reports; supervising and validating testing for Dade County as well as for blast testing; reviewing and validating data from our own tests or those of other labs; and writing reports recognized by HUD, Dade County, and other organizations. Architectural Testing employs professional engineers licensed in nearly 15 states, including Florida and New York, who are supported by many degreed engineers and CAD, laboratory, and materials-science experts.

Engineering Services also provides customer-requested, job-specific services such as analysis and drawings of installations, comparative analyses for downsized or similar constructions, structural analyses for design wind loads and glazing, analyses of components, and site inspection to ensure proper installation. For one client, Architectural Testing devised a nonstandard procedure to evaluate a new anchor designed to withstand a 4,000-pound load. As we progress, we will continue to expand the role of Engineering Services in ways beneficial to our clients.

Forensic Services

In cases of water leakage or condensation problems, our Forensic Services Department conducts investigations to determine the appropriate corrective actions or liability. In addition to forensic investigations, Forensic Services provides new construction field quality assurance and quality control, waterproofing consultation, condition surveys (prepurchase surveys), reviews of shop drawings, and peer reviews of waterproofing details. Our Forensic Services experts have experience in waterproofing, acoustics, thermal, materials, and structural testing.

Forensic investigations include a review of project documents, interviews with knowledgeable personnel, site inspections and testing, a final written report specifying repair options and recommendations, help with mediations through expert opinions, and expert witness testimony.
